Monte del Fra'

Monte-Del-Fra-Logo.jpegMonte del Frà is an all-Italian story that currently boasts over 200 hectares of land. The land is cultivated professionally with elegant terroir and indigenous grapes, giving shape to the award-winning wines that have gained excellent recognition worldwide.

Cantina Monte del Frà is a family-owned business established decades ago since 1958, when forefather Massimo Bonomo, driven by a passion for wine, moved to the hills of Custoza and rented a few hectares to produce quality wine. The estate looks over Lake Garda's glacial hills, 15 km from Verona's centre. After sixty-two years, the management of Monte del Fra’ remains under control of the Bonomo family. The second generation is represented by two brothers, Eligio and Claudio, followed by the third generation, Marica, Silvia and Massimo. As a family their values are clear: loyalty to the land, and an increasingly sustainable agriculture.

Biodiversity is carefully preserved, leaving forested land between each vineyard. Sexual confusion is deployed rather than the use of pesticides. The soil is manually tilled, plowed, hoed, and weeded to avoid the use of herbicides. Monte del Fra' has earned both SQNP (National Integrated Production Quality System) and 3R (waste reduction and diversion) certifications.

This is a medium-sized winery with a lot of selections from various appellations. Though good wines are produced from neighboring appellations, we have chosen to start with selections from the DOC's of Bardolino and Custoza.
