Centorame_Cerasuolo_back.jpgWinery: Centorame
Region:
Abruzzo
Locale:
Casoli di Atri, Italy
Appellation: Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo
Designation: DOC

Site: From a four hectare parcel of cordone speronato vines, planted at a density of 5,000 plants per hectare. The vineyard is 200 meters above sea level. Clay-limestone soil.

Grapes: 100% Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, hand-harvested from 31-year-old vines.

Fermentation and Aging: 100% destemmed, the contact to skin is limited to 16 hours and fermented in stainless-steel tanks

Notes: The nearly-red, deeply pink blush of this rosato is alluring in itself. Saturated with ripe red fruit flavors overlaid by a savory spicy component, Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo is the perfect autumn rosé. Unlike the lighter rosés, age only improves Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo. The wine opens up and finds its best expression around 18 months from harvest. In great vintages it will improve for five years or more. Pairs well with meat or seafood starters, fish soups, and white meats.

8,500 bottles produced annually.
