Rosso Conero "Moroder"

Moroder-RCMoroder.pngWinery: Moroder
Region:
Marche
Locale:
Montacuto, Italy
Appellation: Rosso Conero
Designation: DOC

In a few words: Dark, brooding, and structured, Moroder Rosso Conero sets the standard for the appellation.

Site: Grown organically in the winery’s estate vineyards.

Grapes: 100% Montepulciano

Fermentation and Aging: 10-12 days of maceration on the skins. Slow fermentation for 20 days at 70-75°F. Aged for 12 months in Slavonian botti, or large barrels; then 3 months in bottle.

Notes: The intense red-ruby color is impenetrable. A bouquet and mouthfeel full of fruity hints of black cherry and raspberry. Although in most vintages the wine is entirely drinkable on release, and indeed pairs with mountain fare like wild boar and venison, Moroder Rosso Conero is ageworthy over several years, and believe it or not, pairs wonderfully with local seafood, especially snails and crustaceans.
