In a few words: A subtle yet admirable Trebbiano, perfect with a meal.

Site: Loamy clay, farmed using “agricultura integrata” – as naturally as possible. East and west exposure – midday sun.

Grapes: 100% Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, estate vineyard, 1 hectare, about 200m in altitude, vine age 18 years, tendone trained to guyot, the grapes are picked somewhat late.

Fermentation and Aging: Soft pressing, then a 48 hour cold soak, temperature controlled fermentation. bottled in the spring following the vintage.

Notes: It's easy to overlook this Trebbiano – a quiet wine, it has subtle orchard fruit character which makes one appreciate wines that ably accompany meals without trampling all the surrounding flavors. Lovely with tender chicken, risi i bisi, or poached fish.

“San Michele” is the old name of their farm. Production is a mere 8000 bottles, from 1 hectare.
