Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc "Le Secret"

cdp-blanc-le-secret.jpgWinery: Domaine du Banneret
Region:
Rhone-Sud
Appellation: Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Designation: AOC

Site: From an isolated plot located in the locality of Terres Blanches. Soil is made up of rolled pebbles and limestone shards. The limestone fragments of the primitive Urgonian subsoil are particularly suited to producing white wines: tension, minerality and freshness are essential assets for the balance and the keeping of white Châteauneuf.

Grapes: Grenache Blanc 40%, Clairette 40%, Picardan 10%, Roussanne 5%, and Bourboulenc 5% - all harvested by hand.

Fermentation and Aging: Here at Domaine du Banneret, everything is done by hand - from picking the grapes, to applying the capsules and labels (brush with glue). This is the ultimate boutique winery. Following the manual harvest of fully ripe grapes, the harvest is crushed without destemming for a long vatting period. Slow fermentation takes place naturally thanks to the sole action of indigenous yeasts - those present on the skin of the grapesSlow maceration gives the wine its purple colors, its power and its aromas. A single bottling is done after a very light filtration. Once in an emblazoned bottle, protected by a long pure cork stopper, this wine for aging will continue to age beautifully.

Notes: An expressive nose featuring a blend of white fruit and citrus, with notes of dried fruit and even mint. The mouth is fresh and exuberant, with a lovely fruity persistence.
