Castelnuovo dell'Abate, Italy
Appellation: Brunello di Montalcino
Designation: DOCG

Site: Grown organically in the estate vineyards in Castelnuovo dell’Abate in the southeastern section of Montalcino near the abbey of Sant’Antimo; stony galestro (marl) substrate.

Grapes: 100% Sangiovese

Fermentation and Aging: Macerated 18-21 days in opentop fermenters. Matured for 3 years in 3,000 and 5,000 liter botti (large French oak barrels).

Notes: With purity and power, balance and structure, Flavio’s Brunelli are definitely built for the long haul. Production ranges from 30,000 bottles to 60,000, depending on vintage; he’s able to produce more Brunello (and less Rosso) in great vintages since his fruit is of higher overall quality. This means that in more difficult vintages, less Brunello is produced but of still very good quality.

Available in two sizes: 750ml and magnum.
