Site: Grown on the slopes of the Madonie mountain, at an altitude of 700-900m above sea level. Soils are sandy clay with limestone.
Grapes: Perricone, trained to espalier and albarello (head pruned). Average Age of vineyard 20 to 30 years, yielding about 60 hectoliters per hectare. Harvest in October.
Fermentation and Aging: Red wine vinification, with frequent pump-overs during tumultuous fermentation. Elevage occurs first in stainless steel tanks then in barriques for another 6 months, and rests in bottle for a final 6 months before release.
