Site: VIGNA BARONI extends for about 3 hectares along the road of the same name in the southeasternmost corner of Sicily in the Val di Noto (Siracusa) at about 50 metres above sea level. The climate in this area, further south than Tunis, is temperate-hot Mediterranean. The plant density is 7000 vines per hectare grown ad alberello. The more than 30 year-old vines yield no more than 40 quintals per hectare.
Grapes: “Calavirisi” (Nero d'Avola) cultivated 100% by alberello (7000 vines per hectare).
Fermentation and Aging: The grapes are harvested in the second half of September and vinified into red with a long maceration with the skins. After the malolactic fermentation, the wine is decanted into small 225 liter barrels where it is left to age for 18 months. In addition, it is aged in bottles for several months
Notes: Ruby red in color, with intense, deep violet reflections. Aroma is intense - characteristic of red fruit and vanilla. This wine is fruity, harmonious, and structured with a long lingering finish.
