Barolo DOCG (Serralunga)

Barolo Serralunga.jpgWinery: Andrea Oberto
Region: Piemonte (Piedmont)
Locale: La Morra (Barolo) Italy
Appellation: Barolo
Designation: DOCG

In a few words: A clean-cut, tasty Barolo.

Site: Southeast-facing vineyards in the villages of La Morra. 350 meters above sea level, with sandy soils. Vines are 65-70 years old, trained in the guyot method. Mid-October harvest.

Grapes: 100% Nebbiolo

Fermentation and Aging: Fermentation at controlled temperature in stainless steel with natural yeasts. Aged in barrel.

Notes: Some spicy, meaty notes, but this is mostly about the fruit: blackberries and cherries. Full-bodied with sweet fruit, fine and firm tannins and a long, crystal-clear finish. Ages well, and worth waiting for!
